Fragile and normally transparent materials known as glass materials have been in existence for more than 1000 years and have been produced for human consumption since 3,500 BCE in Mesopotamia, but the term glass was coined by Romans, from the Latin word glesum meaning “transparent and glossy substance”. Glass materials are typically transparent, brittle and one of the most versatile substances forming wide range of shapes, forms and colors.

The antiquity of glass materials throughout the course of history, it has become the major component in creating various types of stuffs; kitchenware, house and building windows, bottles, laboratory equipment, glass tables, ornaments and many more. But what makes glass transparent and brittle? What glass is made up of?

Planet Earth is surrounded by a layer of gases which we refer to as the atmosphere. The atmosphere provides protection against harmful radiation from the sun and gives air, water, and heat to all life on Earth.

The atmosphere stretches for about 500 miles above the Earth’s surface and is made up of several layers each having differing qualities and consists of the following gases –

-          78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, 0.93% Argon, 0.03% Carbon Dioxide, and 0.04% of other rare gases.

The Troposphere

This is the lowest layer of the atmosphere. It stretches almost 7 miles above the Earth and contains more than 75% of all the atmospheric gases plus large amounts of water and fine dust.

Acrosome is one of the many organelles found inside the human body – specifically within the sperm cells of most animals. Having a caplike shape bounded by membrane, acrosome typically covers the anterior part of the head of spermatozoa located within the sperm cells. Acrosome is covered with both the inner and outer membrane containing enzymes used in the ovum penetration of sperm cells.

Acrosome is made up of enzymes (i.e. acrosin and hyaluronidase) responsible for breaking up the outer membrane covering the ovum called zona pellucida. Once this membrane already broken, it allows the haploid nucleus of both the sperm cells and the oven to join each other.

Each form of government has its own way of choosing their leaders; for the parliamentary form of government for example, it is the legislative branch that selects the prime minister which is the head of state, while in a presidential form of government, the head of state (the president) together with the members of the legislative branch is being elected by its people at large through the electoral process. Selecting leaders through the process known as election is clearly an indication of people’s freedom to select leaders based on whom they want to serve them. But what makes up an electoral process? What the electorate is made up of?

Indonesia is an island country located in Southeast Asian and Oceania regions, with land area 1,919,440 km² making it the 16^th largest country in terms of total land area. Its capital city is Jakarta, and its neighboring countries are Australia and Papua New Guinea in the South, Malaysia and Singapore in the North, and The Philippines in the East. Indonesia is made up of approximately 17,508 islands and is among the largest archipelago. However, of the 17,000 islands of Indonesia, only about 8,844 have names and only 992 islands are permanently inhabited based on the data estimate by the Indonesian Government. The estimated population of Indonesian archipelago is 283 million; ranked fourth most populous country of the world, and ranked first in terms of Muslim population.

When engaging into physical activities such as outdoor sports like basketball and baseball, outdoor exercises such as jogging or walking, or even indoor exercises like running in a treadmill, you notice some fluid coming out on the different parts of your body – on your back, on your armpit, on your forehead and more. This fluid normally gives you a warm and sticky feeling prompting you to wipe it out on your system. This fluid is called sweat, and the process of sweat production is called perspiration. Mammals perspire though their sweat glands.

Clay is one of the widely used types of earth mainly because of its unique physical characteristics. Clay has the property to be deformed into different shapes as a result of exerted force or plasticity when wet, but when heated it hardens and turns into a rock solid breakable material. The main cause of clay’s plasticity is the variable amount of water trapped inside the mineral structure through polar attraction. There are also some organic materials that are part of clay deposits though they don’t possess plasticity.

The thicker filaments are made up of a protein called myosin, while the thinner filaments are constructed of the protein actin twisted around another protein named tropomyosin..

There are three kinds of muscle which include –

-          Skeletal muscle.

-          Cardiac muscle.

-          Smooth muscle.

The contraction of all muscle is caused by the same process with the thin actin filaments sliding over the thicker myosin filaments.
