Jupiter is made
The planet Jupiter is made up of mostly hydrogen gas
The planet Jupiter is the largest among the 9 nine planets in the solar system, and its orbit is fifth from the sun – right between the orbit of Mars and Saturn. Together with Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, they formed a group of larger planets called Jovian planets. The overall size of the planet Jupiter is a bit less than one-thousandth that of the sun’s mass, and is almost three times larger than the overall mass of the rest of the planets in the solar system combined. This planet was discovered by astronomers during the ancient times using the earliest telescopes. The discovery of the planet Jupiter was being associated with the Greek and Roman mythology, as well as religious beliefs of various cultures. The name Jupiter was given by the Romans, after the Roman God Jupiter.
Compositions of Planet Jupiter
The planet Jupiter is such a huge gas planet, meaning majority of the compositions of planet Jupiter are different gases. To be specific, Jupiter is made up of different types of gases; with higher percentage of hydrogen (89%), a small portion of helium gas (10%), and 1% other elements that include ammonia and methane. Going into the surface, Jupiter is made up of rock metal as well as other heavy metal elements. The planet Jupiter’s atmosphere is characterized by numerous segregated bands located at different latitudes resulting to frequent storms in the planet. The Great Red Spot is a giant storm found in Jupiter with dimensions of 40,000 km (east to west) and 14,000 km (north to south). The Great Red Spot was observed to exist more than 345 years – using earth-based telescopes.
